FILING YOUR TAXES

Even though the Federal government has extended the filing deadline for personal income tax returns to June 1st, we are here and ready to help you get your taxes filed now. We recommend filing your taxes sooner rather than later. We recommend filing your taxes sooner rather than later.

Filing your personal income taxes within a similar time frame (in April) as in previous years may be beneficial for a few reasons:

  • to gain access to any income tax refunds you may be getting from the 2019 year;
  • to keep your Canada Child Benefit or GST rebate payments up to date; or
  • to provide proof of 2019 income to Canada Revenue Agency if applying for government subsidies such as the CERB.

Many of our clients have already provided their 2019 tax documents to our firm and more have provided them electronically through our secure online portal than in the past. Providing your tax documents via the portal allows the confidentiality of the documents to be best protected and can be done from the comfort of your own home. If you haven’t already signed up, our Portal Authorization Form will need to be filled out and sent back to us via email for each individual or entity for which we are setting up a portal. For example, to sign up your company, ABC Ltd. as well as you, your spouse and child, please fill out four (4) separate forms and have them signed by the responsible party. Please email the completed form(s) to info@hlhcpa.com or send them directly to the HLH team member you are in close contact with.

If you are not able to provide them electronically, our building remains open for you to drop off or mail your documents as you would have in previous years.
